Representation at Health Services Appeal and Review Board
The Health Services Appeal and Review Board (HSARB), conducts appeals and reviews under twelve different health care statutes:
Commitment to the Future of Medicine Act, 2004
Hearing Arts Radiation Protection Act, 1990
Health Facilities Special Orders Act, 1990
Health Protection and Promotion Act, 1990
Home Care and Community Services Act, 1994
Immunization of School Pupils Act, 1990
Independent Health Facilities Act, 1990
Laboratory and Specimen Collection Centre Licensing Act, 1990
The proceedings under each of the statutes range from oral appeals to written reviews. The Board will hear appeals that include:
Decisions of the Ontario Health Insurance plan (OHIP), under the Health Insurance Act regarding eligibility for OHIP coverage and payment of services;
Decisions of approved agencies under the Home Care and Community Services Act, regarding eligibility for the amount of community services someone receives;
Orders of the Medical Officer of Health or Public Health Inspectors under the Health Protection and Promotion Act;
Orders and decisions of the Director under the Long-Term Care Home Act.
Decisions of the Director under the Independent Health Facilities Act with respect to licensing of independent health facilities
